I can count on my hands the number of times I get asked what Bible I use on a daily basis.
There are several study Bibles and journaling bibles out there but my top recommendation would be to get an ESV Single Column Journaling Bible by Crossway books. You can get the exact Bible I have here.
This Single Column Journaling Bible is my absolute favorite for a few reasons.
1. The Single Column refers to the text. On each page, there is one column of text and that makes for lots of room in the margins to jot down notes, write prayers, etc. I love keeping my contextual notes and thoughts together with the exact passage I study and this Bible makes that possible!
2. ESV stands for English Standard Version and is considered the most accurate translation to modern English. It’s easy to read and understand but holds the authenticity and original meaning of the words from the ancient text most accurately.
3. I also love that this Bible has some helpful footnotes and contextual clues at the bottom of the pages. It’s not a ton, but if you don’t have or can’t afford a study Bible, this still has a little bit of guidance for you to reference and find other paralleling verses in other parts of the Bible. This feature helps me draw connections to other places in Scripture and learn more about the original context the authors wrote it in, which is awesome!
If you’d like to dig deeper in the Word, be sure to check out this Bible. It is my absolute favorite (so much so that I have 4 of them!).
I recommend it to anyone looking to get more out of their Bible study from both a personal and contextual perspective!
