During our 14 month engagement, we did a lot of wedding planning. We picked flowers, met with our planner a zillion and fifty times (shoutout, Cindy!), made playlists, chose colors, and even reserved a 1950 Studebaker for a getaway car.

It was fun and exciting and exhausting all at once. But in all the planning, we also focused on preparing. Preparing for the blending of two lives, two souls, and two spirits.

After being married for a whole month now (I know, we're the seasoned vets), we've already realized that even with all that preparation, there are simply things you just can't prepare for until you actually dive head first into the mystery of marriage.

Regardless, we believe that these resources made a big difference in helping prepare our hearts for marriage as well as strengthened our faith, our understanding of ourselves, of each other, and of God.

We hope these resources encourage your heart, strengthen your faith, and enhance your relationship as much as they did for us!

  1. I am currently engaged and getting married in 8 months (eeek, I can’t wait!). My fiance and I have read “You & Me Forever” by Francis Chan, “The Meaning of Marriage” by Tim Keller, and “The Sacred Search” by Gary Thomas. I seriously LOVE them all. They are so helpful, insightful, and encouraging.

  2. Thanks! I’ll keep these in mind! Currently single, I’ve read Captivating and The Sacred Search which are great. I’d highly recommend Sacred Search for men as well.
